10.9 km ridge walk via Route midpoint · Cotswolds AONB

This Broadway loop takes you up onto the Cotswold escarpment, offering a good stretch of the legs and some wide-open views. It's a moderate walk, suitable for anyone comfortable with a steady climb and a bit of distance. You’ll cover 10.9 km (6.8 miles) with a total ascent of 242 metres, so expect to be out for around 4h 48m at a comfortable pace. The path varies from well-trodden tracks to quieter field edges, giving you a real feel for the local landscape as you gain elevation.

As you approach the midpoint, you’ll find the Route Midpoint viewpoint, a place to pause and take in the scenery. While it's not a designated lunch stop, it does offer a good vantage point to survey the land you've covered and the ground still ahead. The path up to this point is a gradual ascent, winding through some open fields before reaching the higher ground. It’s a good spot to catch your breath and enjoy the sense of space that comes with being up on the ridge.

The return leg brings you back along the ridge before a gentle descent into the valley, eventually leading you back to Broadway. Parts of the path can get a little muddy after rain, so sturdy footwear is a sensible choice. You’ll want a windproof layer too, as it can be breezy on the exposed sections. This walk is a solid choice for a day out, giving you a proper taste of the Cotswold uplands without being overly strenuous.
