About this walk
This valley loop is a gentle, low-level walk, perfect if you prefer flat paths to steep climbs. You will follow watercourses and field edges, with plenty of open views across farmland. It is a good choice for a relaxed afternoon, covering 7.1 km (4.4 miles) with no ascent at all, and should take you about 1h 25m at a steady pace. The terrain is mostly firm underfoot, but expect some grassy stretches.
About halfway round, you will reach the Route Midpoint, a low viewpoint where the valley opens out a little more. It is not a place for a long stop, but it offers a good vantage point to take in the surrounding fields and the meandering stream. Look out for the old stone bridge just before you arrive, a quiet spot often overlooked. The path here is wide and easy, making for a pleasant stretch through the heart of the route.
The second half of the walk brings you back along the opposite side of the valley, mirroring your outward journey but with different perspectives. After heavy rain, some sections can get quite muddy, so sturdy footwear is a sensible idea. The route finishes back where you started, leaving you feeling refreshed without having tackled any strenuous hills. It is a straightforward and satisfying walk for anyone wanting to enjoy the Cotswolds' flatter landscapes.
