About this walk
This 7.1 km (4.4 miles) circular route is a proper woodland wander, with almost every step taking you along tree-lined tracks and shaded paths. It’s a moderate walk, easy underfoot for the most part, and with no real ascent to speak of, it’s a good choice if you're after a gentler day out. Expect to be back where you started in about 1h 25m, feeling refreshed and well-exercised without being overtired. It’s a lovely loop for a warm day, offering plenty of natural shade.
You’ll reach the Route Midpoint about halfway through, a spot that offers a pleasant enough vista across the canopy. It’s not somewhere you’d necessarily linger for a packed lunch, but it’s a good place to pause, take a drink, and enjoy the quiet before you continue. The approach to this point is particularly peaceful, with the path winding through some older sections of woodland, where the light dapples beautifully through the leaves overhead.
The second half of the walk continues much in the same vein, keeping you immersed in the woods until the final stretch. The paths can get a bit muddy after heavy rain, so sturdy footwear is a sensible choice, especially in wetter months. Overall, this is a straightforward and enjoyable walk, perfect for those who appreciate the calm and quiet of a mature woodland setting.
