One of the first purpose-built hotels in Europe, Queens Hotel was built on the site of the old Sherborne Spa. A fine example of neo-classical architecture with imposing white façade, tall Corinthian columns, and Georgian windows, modelled on the Temple of Jupiter in Rome. Opened on 21st July 1838, named in honour of Queen Victoria. The hotel has been Grade II listed since 1955 and retains many original features including Pugin-designed wallpaper and a Georgian staircase with crowned glass roof. Recently underwent complete restoration. Each of the 84 rooms are classically elegant with Egyptian cotton linen, luxury toiletries, spa shower head, flat screen TV, air cooling, safe and complimentary Wi-Fi.
